Setting Your Weight Loss Goals

by Cassandra Segoviano

Most successful people find that setting goals is one of the most important parts of achieving those goals and this applies to almost everything in life including your ability to be successful with weight loss.

By setting unrealistic goals you are setting yourself up for failure.

Substantial weight loss does not come overnight. Set realistic goals that can be achieved over an extended period of time.

Quick weight loss is possible but harder to achieve than losing the same weight over the course of several months.

If you keep a daily diary it helps to enforce your actions to achieve your daily goals.

Record your body weight, the food you eat, the supplements you take and the results that you are getting in your diary daily.

This helps you to readjust your goals and make changes to your fitness and nutrition as things change in the course of your weight loss program.

Although you have a major goal, within your major goal you should have short - term goals and they should be realistic to insure that you stay motivated.

These short-term goals will change from time to time as during the course of your weight loss program you will probably find that progress accelerates after certain stages of your plan.

Don’t get alarmed if your weight loss slows down you’ve just reached a plateau. Refer to your diary and look for areas that you might be able to change to lift you over that plateau and allow you to continue your weight loss.
